Who I Am

I've got close to twenty years working in software development, mostly in public sector with some private. My main skillset is in full stack dev, and I love to help solve people's problems and make things a little smoother for them, be it by automating some mundane task, or by designing and building a full solution for their ideal workflow. I want people to use what I build for them and for them to actually enjoy using it. People should have the right tool for the job, and if they don't, I'm happy to help them build it.

What I've Done

My work has spanned internal and external integrations, API design, and production systems. I've done web application design and development using OutSystems, C# .NET, and ColdFusion. I enjoy database architecture and design, and I've dabbled in management (Oracle, SQL Server). I also understand the importance of proper reporting, like through SSRS, custom solutions for SharePoint, or even automated notification e-mails.

I've built and worked on tools for teams of 1 to teams of 30 and more. Some of my projects were built for departments and some were built to be used across the organization. Size and scale are no issue.

I'm comfortable working in a silo or in a team setting, and I'm more than up to talk to business users about their needs and wants.

Try out some of my demo projects on the Projects page.

What I'm Doing

Currently working on supporting a digital transformation project for transitioning staff from a cumbersome, manual, paper process to a streamlined, automated, digital workflow. I'm building backend integrations for the front end to talk to our existing vendor products. I'm also providing enhancements to a vendor system to make it more usable for staff and the public. I'm also trying to see where we can use AI to fill gaps to free the team up for more productive work.

Where I Came From

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Database specialization for my diploma, game development for my bachelors. 5 years in private with a software firm and an engineering firm, and the rest in the public sector working for local government. I've worked waterfall and agile. I've worked quarterly check-ins and demos with clients and two week sprints. I've done the overnight push to fit just one more feature in before cut off. I'll fit your schedule and your pace.

Where I'm Going

I want to solve your problems. I want to build tools that are useful and actually work well for people and their processes. I want to help you question your processes, and then find and address their weakpoints.

I'm interested in software development, business analyst, and product manager roles. If I sound like a good fit for you or your team, reach out, and let's chat.
